Social Development Centre, Nepal
Social Development Centre Nepal is a non-governmental organization established in 1997 which was registered in Kailali District Administrative Office and has been working as a branch office in Bajhang districts since 1999. It was registered as Social Development and Research Center Nepal in 2005 in the District Administrative Office, Bajhang and changed the name to Social Development Centre in 2006.
This organization was established under the initiative and leadership of youth with the slogan of “Appreciative initiation for positive change”. Even though women, dalit, children and marginalized groups were close to the natural resources but due to poverty they were unable to manage those resources. To include the women, dalit, children and poverty stricken communities in the mainstream of development, SDC Nepal has been conducting programs in the field of forestry, environmental protection, infrastructure development, income generating activities, capacity building and social services in partnership with national and international organizations.
The SDC Nepal prioritizes sustainable forest management, infrastructure development, enterprises based on natural resources, income generating activities, capacity building and women empowerment, research work and one village- one product production concept. SDC Nepal believes that active participation is essential for sustainable development of the community. It took account of the active participation, inclusion of women in group discussion for decision making.
